Building Safe Communities Through Investing in Our People
We Need to Protect Pensions With Progressive Revenue
If we are giving the police 40 percent of our budget and we still don’t feel safe, then that means that we need to be doing something different.
We need to start thinking about how we use those resources so that we actually feel safe. And that means increasing the presence of mental health services, social workers, and nurses. We also really need more after school programing.
A Year-End Fund Drive for Rossana's Campaign
We have a moral and an inescapable legal obligation to keep our promises to workers who accepted pensions in place of raises and who have paid into this system rather than Social Security. Emanuel’s latest recommendations will only result in more seniors living in poverty and allow the state to muddle along with one of the most regressive tax structures in the nation.
To Counter Hate We Need Sanctuary for All
From knocking on more than 20,000 doors to opening a beautiful office space in the heart of the 33rd Ward, this has been quite a year for us.
Help us get a strong start in 2019 by donating here: https://build.rossanafor33.org/
Our goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of the year to fund outreach efforts, childcare and canvassing materials.
Today we say: The movement won this.
In the past few weeks we have witnessed horrific white supremacist violence: attacks against Black people, Jewish people, trans people, Native people, immigrants and so many others.
On the anniversary of Hurricane Maria.
Today we say: The movement won this. Jason Van Dyke is being held accountable because of the people who crowded Chicago’s streets, spoke Laquan McDonald’s name, and insisted that his murder should not go unpunished.
Help Rossana's Campaign Land a Home
One year ago today, Hurricane Maria hit my homeland of Puerto Rico. Like many Puerto Ricans here, I spent eight days not knowing if my family had survived.
Let’s face it, as much as we appreciate our volunteers’ generosity in opening their homes to launch canvassing, sign-making, phone-banking and more, you can only spend so long in your friend’s living room. Sooner or later, we’ll need a campaign office to call home. Let's make it sooner!
